The reference state describes five vegetative communities across the flood plain catena. Flooding is the major disturbance. Site factors such as disturbance and soil drainage contribute to the community composition and dynamics on this ecological site.
The reference state is developed and characterized using available vegetation models, including Landfire BpS and the Alaska vegetation classification system (Landfire, 2009; Viereck et al., 1992).
